The Crooks Mountain Ranch is home to a variety of wildlife including herds of elk, mule deer, antelope and wild horses. Other wildlife that can be found on the ranch include sage grouse, bobcat, mountain lion and coyotes. One of the biggest draws to the ranch for wildlife is water. There are three year-round creeks, Nancy Creek, O’Brien Creek & Woods Gulch, that run through the property. With ample cover and one of the few sources of water in the area the big game flock to the ranch. This area is known for its trophy bull elk and mule deer. The ranch historically has received landowner elk and antelope tags and is in a general area for deer for Wyoming residents, but could qualify for landowner tags for non-residents. Other than the general deer tag for Wyoming residents, this area can be difficult to draw elk tags for residents and non-residents alike.

High quality hunting ranches like the Crooks Mountain Ranch rarely come available. Set in an area rich in history, there are a number of notable trails close to the ranch including the Continental Divide Trail, the California & Oregon National Historic Trails and the Mormon Pioneer and Pony Express Trails.
